Many customers have questions about how consolidation (merging) of packages works. We have made few videos to explain you better the whole process.

When we do consolidation, we use a box which meets USPS size limits (26"x13"x13") by default. USPS is usually the least expensive shipping service.

You can select on your Shipito account that you want your package to be consolidated. When we see your request, we retrieve your packages and double-check that we have the correct ones.

Depending on your request, we can remove all unnecessary packaging. That might significantly lower the postage (package becomes smaller and lighter).

There are three options available:
For example retailer sends a pair of shoes packed in the nice retail/product box which is placed in bigger box for shipping.

• Keep outside box (we will consolidate the box as received)
  
• Keep retail packaging (outside box is thrown away, shoe box stays)
  
• Remove all unnecessary packaging (shoe box is thrown away, only shoes are packed)
  

We can also keep the product/retail packaging. For example if you plan to resell the products, it is a good idea to keep original retail boxes.

Once we repack we measure the new package and weigh it again. We will consolidate all selected boxes to 26"x13"x13" size box or smaller. If some your boxes don't fit in 26"x13"x13" box we will put them in smaller box.

Some customers do not wish to consolidate packages which do not fit in full 26"x13"x13" box. In that case you can choose 37"x17"x17" box (USPS service might be limited to certain countries with this size).

Once the package is consolidated it has to be mailed out in three days (otherwise storage fees apply). If you really need to consolidate already consolidated package we can do it (consolidation fee is charged again), but we rather prefer to mail it out.

Consolidation can significantly lower the cost of postage. See the following real examples of packages we have shipped.

NEW: We can also consolidate to box size 36"x17"x17". Be aware of total weight and size limits for shipping method you want to use. You can place the dimensions and weight in shipping calculator to see if a shipping method is available.

Shipito doesn't recommend consolidation of packages bigger than 26"x13"x13" USPS limit. Big and heavy packages increase risk of damages during shipping.

If you are concerned about fragile items please place a Special request so we can add extra packaging material. We can also keep fragile items in original boxes (for extra layer of protection). Please let us know that in special request on consolidation page.

We also offer option to take photos of items which are consolidated in the box. That gives you an additional check if all items were placed in the box. The cost is $8.50 per consolidated box. The photos are not a showcase of products (as regular photos on special request). They rather show what was put in the box for an additional control.

For example new package is received in our warehouse and you want to check if all items were send by the seller. Please use special request for taking photos. Later when you consolidate the box with others we can take pictures of all items consolidated (consolidation photos request).
